Help

The site is best viewed at a width of 1024. Multiple navigation systems allow easy access to all pages. A summary heads each content section. The pages are AAA-rated for access, with additional options.

Viewing

This site is best viewed at a screen width of 1024, however, an acceptable view of the content is obtained at 800 pixels width. MS Internet Explorer is the browser of choice to utilise all the effects and facilities on these web pages.

Content

The content of each page appears in this green-yellow box. At the top of each page, below the banner, there is a title and summary box with a brief description of the page content. The TOP icon at the bottom of each page moves to the top of the page and the menu.

Navigation

The left-hand navigation menu links to site sections by clicking on one of the seven panels, or directly to individual pages by way of the fly-out menus. This menu system will track down a scrolled page in IE, to be ready for immediate navigation to the TOP of the existing page, HOME, or elsewhere. The site can also be navigated from the index page.

To the right, the page location is given relative to the Home page. Below this are context sensitive links, which suggest alternative pages related to the current content. This is followed by a brief list of recently updated pages. All pages are listed and linked in the Site Map.

Search Engines

The Search page allows the site to be searched for words on Google or a PicoSearch index. The Google site search is also available on each page at upper left. Two further database search engines assist in finding information on VCS organisations and ChangeUp documents.

The Infrastructure Finder allows you to find details of regional, sub-regional and local generic infrastructure organisations in the East Midlands. You may search by typing in part of the name of the organisation you are looking for or by selecting its geographical coverage or the type of infrastructure body.

The Document Finder enables selecting a list of East Midlands ChangeUp documents, using search words, by category, or by geographic area. Once located, the document can be downloaded or expanded details viewed.

Access Options

Middle right are options to make the text larger, and/or increase the text-background contrast, and/or zoom the whole window - these features only work with Internet Explorer. If Cookies are enabled on your browser, the text options will apply to all pages of the site for 24hours.

The facility to make the text bigger may be preferable to changing browser View-Text Size settings, as it predominately adjusts just the content text without distorting the layout. However, the text sizes throughout the pages have been chosen to view reasonably at Internet Explorer's View-Text Size of 'Larger' and below.

All pages are WAI AAA-Approved using WebXACT to the extent of passing the automatic aspects of the online test for Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0 as issued by the W3C Web Access Initiative.

As an alternative to navigation, all pages can be accessed from the Site Map.

Printing

The 'PRINT content only' control (lower right) will print just the content of the page without the menus or header. The content should fit on A4 paper width if the margins of the printer are properly adjusted.
